Polishing process materials like metals and plastics. To straighten uneven surfaces, usually a sanding operation is upstreamed. This is realized manually or by special machines.

The surface is ablated and polished by very fine polishing agents, that are bound in a paste or liquid.

In most cases the processing is realized by machines with rotating polishing disks from fabric, felt or leather. The real polishing agent is applied as an emulsion or solid paste on the disk as a polishing agent carrier.
